FAQ- The list of common questions answered here!
What is it like to work with you?
As a model, it is my job to absorb your ideas and somehow convey them.
Currently, I am working through chronic pain issues and take everything one day at a time. I'm also dealing with family issues. I am very conscious of not over-booking myself; I have not had to cancel a shoot or sitting; some days I do need to slow down my pace.
I do not care if an image of me is "pretty" or "ugly", if you photograph my "bad side", if it is 30 degrees out, if I had a bad day, etc. I bring very little ego to a shoot or sitting; the work is not about me; it's about the bigger picture, what is created.
I can work with a strict set of concepts that must be stuck to; little to no direction; you can tell me when to stop and hold a pose, or how to change a pose to make it work better; or give no feedback at all. It is my job to adapt to who you are, what your working style is, and to produce what is needed.
Unless asked, I do not have any wardrobe to speak of and do not wear make up. If there are any requirements, I can do my best to fulfill them; if I know that I cannot meet a requirement, I will let you know and see if there is an alternative.

Do you do TF work?
I love collaborating with photographers or artists I click with. I often like the idea of working together as much as possible with great people, and then profit sharing should the sale of any of the work we produce should arise.
I barter for:
-Travel costs to get me to you
-A safe place to stay in a major market
-Access to a studio

What would make you want to collaborate with someone?
I work best with people over time. A one-time collaborative shoot is rare; I'd rather stay a week with someone, work with them every day, and repeat as often as possible.
When it is not "work" to work with someone, and it is an enjoyable experience.
When neither of us are stressing about getting a perfect image, yet it often happens.
It is hard to know when those sorts of artistic friendships can occur; if I like someone's vision and we are both interested in testing, that's a perfect start to finding out!

What is your favorite type of work to model for?
I will use the broad umbrella term of "art".
Modeling for classes or privately for classical artists will always hold a special place in my heart; I love the process of holding a pose and slowly being rendered however the artist views you. This is a magical process I love to be a part of as much as possible.
I also do love posing for art photographers of all levels, from hobbyists to beginners to highly published.
I love when I feel challenged, and really need to give everything within myself.

How do you travel?
In general, I travel by myself with one or two carry-ons and either fly, take the bus, take a plane, public transit, or arrange rides in remote areas.
Most of the time, I book my own plane travel a few months in advance when I know I will be switching regions, and use bus and train more locally ("local" to me means 1-8 hours).
I frequently barter for airline miles if someone has airline miles to spare but cannot hire me otherwise.
I do not drive and do not have a license.

I'm a hobbyist and have no idea how to approach models... what is a good way?
You will be surprised at how many positive responses you can get if you ask someone off the street if they will model for you!
In the internet world, I would suggest a well-written, well-thought-out email. This demonstrates that although you are new to model photography, you have taken the time to think of a thorough email, and demonstrates professionalism.
A good email:
Hello [model's name],
I am a hobbyist in the area and am new to model photography. I am looking to shoot (insert here). I am available (insert your availability here). I was thinking of shooting at (insert location here). I have attached some past model photography work and a link to my website (if you have either of those, which is advisable!) I can offer you XYZ in return*. If you have any interest, here is my contact information: (name, phone number, etc)
Sincerely,
[Your name]
*If you are approaching a newer model who is also still in the portfolio building stage, you can ask that it is a collaborative effort. If you are working with an experienced model whose look could really improve your portfolio, it is generally a good idea to offer a form of payment, which can range from offering to cover travel costs and a meal to paying their rates. It is an investment, for sure, but well worth it with the right models!

Where are you available to shoot?
I keep my "when + where" page updated. This is the best way to know where I am.
I have a valid US passport.

What are you available to model for?
I mainly focus on art modeling. I am available for life modeling for classes, reference photos, private artists and photographers. I do not seek out much glamour or "mainstream" work.
How many things can I expect to shoot with you?
Over the years, I have found that I work much better in situations where the photographer/ artist and I can focus on just one or two concepts.
I am available for a wide range of ideas, but do not expect to fit body painting, lingerie, head shots, artistic nudes, and fashion all in the same day.

Do you shave your pubic hair?
If you pay me $2,000.
I book work based on the look I have now.

Why don't you shave your body hair?
I'm more marketable for some work and am not "mainstream" in any way, so I'm not worried about being appealing to the majority. I'm a niche model.
Besides, who says girls have to shave their legs?

Why are you shaving your head Oct 2011?
Head shaving is present in many cultures and symbolizes mourning, new starts, and rebirth.
It's time for a reinvention!
I am leaving ample time for those interested in booking me with long hair to book me now!
